What are the Art Parts images?
The Art Parts images are a collection of graphics we created for Tripod
members.
One thing you can do with Art Parts is put them on your home page, which is
easy using Tripod's Homepage Builder.
These images were originally drawn
in black and white, but using Tripod's Colorizer technology (created by our
very own Derek Scanlon)
you can give your images color!
How do I get the Art Parts images to appear on my
home page?
After you've selected and colorized your Art Parts image, click the
button that reads
'Save to My Member Directory.' That command saves a copy of the image into
your member directory.
You can go to the Homepager Housekeeper and find
the image you've saved, and you can view your image there.
You can use HTML or the Homepage Builder to edit your homepage and add
the image.
If you're using the Homepage Builder, just select the filename of the image
from within QuickPage,
and a link to the file is inserted for you.
If you're using HTML to create a customized page, insert a link into
your page that includes the filename of the image you've saved, something like
<IMG SRC='Armadillo.gif'>, wherever you want the graphic to appear.
Remember that filenames are CaSe sensitive.
In what format are the Art Parts images saved?
The Art Parts images are saved to your directory in .gif format. That makes
them quicker to download once they're on your homepage.
What is colorizer technology?
Tripod's Colorizer Technology is a way to add color to black-and-white
graphics. It lets you choose a color to replace black, a color to replace
white, and Voila! Color graphics! As if that isn't great enough, Tripod's
image collection contains images that have been made into 'transparent gifs,'
which means that your color images will appear to float on your Web page
without square borders.
Can I use colorizer technology on my own
images?
No, sorry. This is a special technology designed to work with the Art
Parts collection.
Can I change the size of the images?
Some of these images come in two sizes, but if you want to do all of
your editing right here on Tripod you can only create image files with the
sizes provided in
the Art Parts collection. However, you can resize the images on your page
by using the IMG SIZE tag in HTML.
If you're feeling adventurous, once you've saved the image, you can
download your file and
edit or resize it using Photoshop or another similar program.
Why are only these colors available?
These colors are available because they are in the 'safe palette,' which
is a set of colors that looks good on both Windows and Macintosh machines.
For more information about the safe palette, please see the Toolbox.
Can I re-color an image after I've copied it into
my directory?
Sorry, once you've saved an image, it's saved. That means that you'll
have to return
to the Art Parts collection and start over if you want to change the colors
in your image. But look on
the bright side--it's fun to use the Colorizer!
How do these images affect my Tripod disk
quota?
These images are designed to use as little disk space as possible. To
check the
disk size of an image, look at the file using the Housekeeper. The
Housekeeper shows you
the sizes of all the files in your Tripod Member Directory, and it keeps
track of your remaining
disk space.
