Thumber What's New ================== Here's a brief list of some of the major new features incorporated into Thumber. Minor features, cosmetic changes and most bug-fixes are not listed. Version 3.12 (December 1999) =========================== Note: Removed editor's crop menu option. Not ready yet! Note: More changes to setup file trying to resolve MSVCRT.DLL when installing Thumber. If you still get this error just hit ignore and continue. Version 3.11 (December 1999) =========================== Bug Fix: Fixed Rename Current Image/File function. Note: Changed the setup file slightly. should remove error about MSVCRT.DLL errors. If you still get this error just hit ignore and continue. Version 3.1 (November 1999) ========================== Feature: Added image editor, with user-defined 3x3 filtering, sharpening, levels, brightness, contrast, gamma and resample capabilities. Feature: Added ability to save JPG files (user defined compression settings). Feature: JPG decoding now handled by Intel JPG library -- much better quality images. Feature: Added help file. Thumber finally has reasonable documentation! Feature: Save EXIF/APP12 data to file / Insert EXIF.APP12 data from file. Feature: Retain EXIF/APP12 data in resized/edited/saved images. Feature: Improved Thumber.ini. No more error messages for future updates! Feature: Thumber now determines focal length and ISO information from a file named cameras.txt. Can be updated/modified by user to add support for new cameras. Feature: Added batch lossless transformation using "marked" images. Feature: Ability to report times/dates in 24 hour format. Feature: Scale thumbnails by percent as well as size. Feature: Light Source (White Balance) and Program (Exposure Program) reporting. Feature: Added support for new cameras (see cameras.txt for details). Feature: Added "smart" EXIF/APEX decoding. Shutter speed and aperture can be displayed as "standard" values. That is, shutter speeds of 1/8, 1/15, 1/30, etc., ...and not 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, etc. (Still experimental.) Bug Fix: Comments now appear on web page, even if image contains no EXIF/APP12 data. Bug Fix: Fixed bug if no name specified for web page -- defaults to thumbs.htm. Bug Fix: Fixed bug in multiple directory renaming (error when renaming files with no image information). Bug Fix: ISO reporting fixed for Nikon 950. (See cameras.txt feature above) Bug Fix: Fixed brightness reporting for Nikon 950. A lot of "under the hood" changes! Version 3.03 (August 1999) ========================== Feature: The "Mark All" button now ignores files that are thumbnails or resized images. Bug Fix: When making master index page, thumbnail images are now ignored in file count and directory size. Bug Fix: Stopped display of empty quality and picture number tags (on web pages) for images without information. Version 3.0 (August 1999) ====================== Feature: Added ability to generate thumbnails (of any size) from any JPG file, including those without embedded thumbnails. Thus, Thumber can now create web pages and thumbnails from any JPG files, including "rotated" thumbnails for images that have been rotated. JPEG quality setting can be specified by user. User can choose to extract embedded thumbnails, or generate new thumbnails for digital camera images. Feature: Added ability to create resized versions of the original images when making web pages. Image can be resized to specified dimensions (in pixels) or a specified percentage of original image. HTML page can be created with links to resized images or originals (resized versions do not replace originals) and can be of user-defined size and quality. Feature: Added "Create master index web page" option. This creates an HTML index page with links to all thumbnail pages generated in subdirectories. Feature: Added ability to 'mark' images individually as they are viewed, and then build a web page (and/or extract thumbnails) using these marked images. Feature: Added ability to update file time/date stamp for multiple files and/or multiple directories simultaneously. Feature: Added font face and color options to HTML page creation. Feature: Added "hide border" around thumbnail option to HTML page creation. Feature: Added user-defined start number for counter when renaming files. Number of digits in counter can also be specified. Feature: Significantly increased rename speed if the counter (%C) is the only variable used. Feature: Expanded program size to 640x480. Feature: Added/updated Support for Olympus 400, Olympus 2000, Kodak 240, Kodak 265, Ricoh 5000, Fuji 600 (Fuji 1500, 2900 preliminary suport), Nikon 700.
