A message for parents and teachers

Tripod TeenSpeak is intended as a forum for teens to converse (via chats and message boards) and create
(homepages and relationships) in a positive way on the Internet. Teenagers need powerful, positive role models in their families and in schools, but
they also need to see that their own peers are spending their free time promoting important
causes and helping each other. Tripod TeenSpeak highlights these young people and
recognizes their achievements. Our hope is that other teens who spend time on the Internet
will follow suit, and that teachers and parents will recognize what an empowering, positive
force the Internet can play in the lives of young adults. We hope TeenSpeak will foster discussion, provide information, and
facilitate conversation about important issues in teenagers' lives. TeenSpeak is a specialized environment
for teens to explore issues, interact with peers, and access information that they can use to help themselves
and each other.
