I've been going to the US Open of snowboarding for the past five years, and a good time is always had by all. It's more than just a bunch of snowboarders racing and spinning to win. Back in the day, this was the one event where you could ride with other snowboarders and actually be in the majority. It was low-profile. Of course, now it's all big-name sponsors and riders welcomed by a growing number of media representatives. But don't believe the hype! It's still about days of competition and drunken mayhem. As the announcer at the halfpipe says, "There's no drug-testing here at the US Open!"
Take a cruise through my scrapbook from the Open, and you'll see what more than 10,000 people came to see.
