July 18-23, 1996: South Dakota-Wyoming
|
This week, Ethan and Rachel travel through South Dakota and Wyoming. Rachel hails South Dakota as the true beginning of the roadtrip, but covers the state in two sentences. "To my Texan-bred sensibilities," she explains, "we didn't hit the West until we hit Wyoming." Ethan, on the other hand, dispatched 3,000 words about their accidental meander through South Dakota (here we present the abridged version). And from Ethan, only one sentence on Wyoming: "Mountains are tall and cowboys are obnoxious." Check out the view from both windows, below.
You can also return to the Roadtrip and learn more about who and what Rachel and Ethan have seen. Ethan Zuckerman, Tripod's Director of Research and Development, and Rachel Barenblat are driving cross-country.
