The office is probably the last place you would expect to have to worry about crime. But statistics show that a large percentage of crime occurs in the workplace. By noting these precautions you'll be more likely to stay crime free.

- Use particular caution in stairwells and restrooms. If possible, use a restroom that requires a key.
- Don't leave your keys lying around.
- If possible, lock up items like purses, bags, or checkbooks.

- In an elevator, stand near the control panels and locate the emergency button.
- Don't get into an elevator with someone who looks suspicious. Do not be afraid to get out if someone entering makes you feel uncomfortable.
- Notify security personnel if you notice suspicious persons or vehicles, especially after normal working hours.
- Always be wary of solicitors.
- Know your co-workers and look out for each other.
