Have you noticed that navigating through work and careers these days is a major undertaking? It's a jungle out there -- and Tripod wants to make sure you catch the tiger by the tail! We've improved, expanded, and reorganized our job search and career survival sections and dubbed the results "Career Safari" -- you can explore everything from profiles of movers and shakers in the modern workplace to databases of nationwide internship and employment opportunities. As if that weren't enough intrigue and adventure for one week, Catherine Hedgecock checks in with a "Tales from the Trenches" report on a dangerous outbreak of boss-itis and Bruce Tulgan's "X Nuggets" plots "Revenge at the Office." Did we mention the daunting Dilemma on surviving college major jitters or the scintillating Survey on making ends meet? And get reoriented with our review of "The Quick Job Hunting (and Career Changing) Map." Come by and join our excursion into the deepest heart of all things Work and Money -- loin cloths and pith helmets are optional!

U.S. Presidential Campaigns seem to be under the influence of something -- leave it to Tripod to cut through the smokescreen and get to the heart of issues. This week, Campaign 96 coverage includes Harry Goldstein's Just Say No (to the War on drugs), revealing the real casualties of blind, blanket sloganeering. Adwatch puts the very recent wave of paid political mud-slinging ads into perspective, and tells us why we can expect more on-air manipulations. Political Playbook reviews the "just misses" of the 104th Congress. Plus, check out our survey on whether drug policies make the presidential candidate.
Tripod's Literatour continues this week, with the "Casablanca" travel guide. Tools for Thought reviews the stories of Paul Bowles, an American writer who has spent most of his life in Tangier, Morocco, and knows the Casablanca of yesterday and today. Doctor Bob discusses UTI symptoms, why people like to smoke, and how to cope when a loved one has cancer. In the Puzzler, drunk boys drink radiator fluid -- any idea what will happen? Finally, this week's survey debates the fate of rap. Will the lifestyle flaunted in gangsta rap become the downfall of the business? Or will we soon see the emergence of a kinder, gentler rap?

The Tripod soccer team has dusted off the boots and taken to the field once again. We are off to a rocky start this season with a 1-2 win/loss record. The team is integrating new players and perhaps more importantly, getting our collective butts out of the office for something a little more active than clicking a mouse.
In less sporting news, Trixie, the office cat almost got us evicted. Our landlord expressed some concern about having a cat running around. Bruce, an adamant cat lover, considered this a call to arms. He claims that we can deduct her as a dependent on the corporate tax returns.
Last week, Tripod played host to a number of visitors. People are often amazed that we run our Web site from tiny Williamstown. Ironically, people around here may know about Tripod, but they don't know where our offices are. When Mike's brother was trying to find our offices, he stopped someone on the corner and asked, "Where's Tripod?"
The response he got was, "I don't know, try www.tripod.com."
