POLITICS & COMMUNITY
It's been a busy week! Meet the Republican Congresswomen who are trying to improve their party's image with their fellow female voters in Tripod's Political Playbook. Director Steven Bognar talks with Tripod about his film, "Personal Belongings," which debuted on PBS this week. Why is Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) after Energy Secretary Hazel O'Leary? Get the background in "The Department of Energy Crisis". Plus, Andre Willis, editor of "Faith of Our Fathers," discusses stereotypes and realities of African-American fatherhood just in time for Daddy's Day. (It's this Sunday!) If you're not too tired after all that, share your opinion on nasty campaign ads in our weekly survey.

WORK & MONEY
This week's Work and Money Survey polls our members for tips on maintaining a healthy balance between personal lives and time-intensive jobs. A Tripod member presents us this week's Dilemma: he's been "downsized" and would like our suggestions for helping him to re-enter a tough, competitive job market. On a related note, this week's installment of Harry Goldstein's Working Life column takes a hard-hitting and very personal look at the politics of downsizing and its effect on loyalty. Clearly, understanding the current employment climate is a job in itself -- which is why the Work and Money section is here!

HOMELIFE
This week in Living and Travel, David Wallis travels to the little-known island of Dominica and goes frog-hunting. For some first-hand travel tips, check out this week's survey, "Everyone's a Native Tourguide." From Seattle to Texas to the United Arab Emirates, Tripod members give the lowdown on their hometowns. As usual, the doctor is in (Hepatitis is this week's subject, but feel free to ask him your own question). And if you know the truth about poison ivy, play doctor with Tripod and win a T-shirt.

It's crazy hot in Williamstown. Earlier this week there was a string of fan thefts between offices that was reminiscent of the "great wrist pad shortage". Fortunately, we've cracked out the air conditioners which will hopefully keep everyone sane. The heat wave has ushered in the tourist season. Randy expressed mock shock over the seemingly overnight aging of Spring Street pedestrians! In Tripod staffing matters, Mike Agger became the newest member of the Tripod Team, after being an intern for less than a month. He joins the Editorial team as Assistant Editor. His first task as a full time employee was to very discreetly ask the tech suite to include him on the "staff" email alias. Way to go, Mike.
In the pictures below, you can see the dramatic personal change Mike has gone through due to the transition from intern to full-time staff member.
Last Monday, Margaret returned from her International Design Conference in Aspen, Colorado. This year's theme was Gestalt: Visions of German Design. Margaret did her part for Tripod's international relations, and gave away T-shirts to some German designers. Upon receiving their American bounty, they exclaimed, "Das ist über-kühl!"
Bitte. We always knew we were über-kühl.
