Welcome to a special edition of the Tripod Insider. On July 2, Tripod woke up with a whole new look. We've expanded what we offer to make Tripod more focused and accessible, and we've launched a great new Web space for our growing community of homepage builders (currently over a third of our 400,000 members). Read all about it, then find out what's happening here at Tripod H.Q.

New on Tripod

Tripod now has four main sections: Work, Money, Living, and Health/Sports.

The Work section has become even more focused on helping you work smart (by which we mean thinking of your career as a small business in and of itself); we also still offer great sections on finding your dream job and exploring different career paths.

We've spun Money out into its own section now: It's still full of sound advice for making, saving, and understanding money, but we're beefing up our new "Burn" section to help you spend your money wisely, too.

Living has split into four subsections, each of which is a stylish survival guide to the following topics: relocating (Bubblewrap), cars and other vehicles (Wheels), cooking and eating (Kitchenette), and home repair/decorating (Staplegun).

Finally, we've added a brand new section: Health/Sports, where our team of doctors — including our new holistic doctor — answer Tripod member health questions, where specialists will answer your "special" questions, and where we take an honest look at vices.

ALSO NEW FROM TRIPOD

Web/Tech — Tripod's newest project, Web/Tech is dedicated to helping Tripod members build great Web pages, and to gathering those pages into Pods based on common interests. You'll find columns and information about all aspects of personal publishing, from HTML how-tos to interviews and profiles. To start things off, we've assembled three Pods: the Alternative Music Pod, the Film Buffs Pod, and the Freebies Pod (full of member guides to free stuff on the Web). Come kick-start your Web/Tech!

Women's Room — Already a popular meeting place on Tripod for women (and men) to discuss women's issues from welfare to the Wonderbra, Women's Room is beginning to define "women" for a new generation. The focus is on conferencing, but keep an eye out for plenty of cool content in the months ahead.

The Daily Scoop — Plodding through the glut of information on the Web can be a daunting task, which is why we bring you the Daily Scoop. Newly revamped, the Scoop filters out the muck to bring you all the important news, along with only the most interesting, funny, and insightful gems on the Web. Every day. Before long, you'll even be able to use the Scoop to get your personal reminders, your horoscope, and a personalized weather forecast.

fun_games — The fun_games is one of the most trafficked areas of Tripod, and now we've brought it to the forefront, along with a commitment to develop even more jokes, toys, games, and little innovations than ever to keep you entertained throughout your day. We'll also offer up a frequently updated guide to toys all over the Web.

Summer's here, and that means one thing: softball. Last week, the Tripod softball team kicked off the season with a 13-4 drubbing of Winstanley and Associates (our ad agency). The play of the game was produced by VP of technology and left fielder Don Zereski, who hit the broad side of a barn &151; literally &151; while hauling in a deep fly ball. Way to take one for the team, Don.

Meanwhile, back at the cable factory... Remember that scene near the end of "Apocalypse Now"? The one where Marlon Brando's sitting in that hut, and he's sweating and just covered with insects? Yeah, that one. Well, that's pretty much what it's been like for the production staff, who worked late into the night every night for the past few weeks, sweating and dodging a swarm of fist-sized bugs (the horror!), to bring you... well, just scroll up to find out what they brought you. So tiptoe around the site for the next few days... We're sleeping!
