Content And Services
NEW IN WEB/TECHClassic video games are back! Read Dan Reines's "A Rebirth of Cool" to learn about arcade game emulators for the home PC, check out Nick Branstator's comparison of games old and new in "Confessions of a Video Game Junkie," then play YAR'S REVENGE 2.
Also, check out the Gamesta' Pod and the pod conference on "What's New and What's Hot" in video games.
Randy Williams, Web/Tech Editor
To celebrate the classic video games, we've created YAR's REVENGE 2. Help the Yar get revenge on all the more popular Atari game characters!
Our Daily Crossword Puzzle is Java-powered and requires no plug-ins. Print it out if you don't want to play online. Puzzle lovers dig it!
Chris Young, Toymaker
Bernadette Noll laments our sloppy sense of dress -- and blames it all on the day Kennedy stepped out with no hat -- in "Is That What You're Wearing?"
Find respite from a nation of slobs in the Mod Pod, the place the most fashionable Tripod members call home.
Emma Taylor, Homelife Editor
Spike Gillespie decides that actions speak louder than bumper stickers, so she's decided to tell her story in "Ask Me About My Abortion."
You've seen those "Ask Me About My Grandchildren" bumper stickers. If your car had a sticker, what question would it ask? And how would you answer? Tell your story in the Women's Zone Conference.
Talk about women's issues -- from breast cancer to punk feminist rock -- in the X-Squared Pod.
Emma Taylor, Women's Editor
In "Whither the FlowBee?" Leslie Harpold, editor of Smug, looks back at the "golden age" of infomercials and says they don't hype 'em like they used to.
Then, buzz, little honeybee, with a little swing, a little jazz, and a little blues in the Jazz & Blues Pod.
Randy Williams, Media Editor
Bernadette Noll turns to *a life of crime*! OK, she's not really a criminal, but she is in the slammer -- read her first-person account in "Jailhouse Blues."
Headed to jail yourself? You're going to need plenty to read. Stop by the BookTalk Pod and join in the conference on "The 3 Books You Want to Be Marooned With" for a few suggestions...
Dan Reines, Issues Editor
We all dream of wreaking revenge on our bosses, but where should you draw the line? Harry Goldstein wrestles with (the lack of) workplace ethics in "Booty Call." Then Martin Sprouse, editor of "Sabotage In The American Workplace: Anecdotes of Dissatisfaction, Mischief and Revenge," has his say in "Sabotage 101."
Admit it: You work for your paycheck, not for the love of your company. And you're a slave to the almighty dollar. Find out how to care for your moolah in the Personal Finance Pod.
Lori Tuckett, Work & Money Editor
Road Rage got you hoppin' mad? Us, too, and we're doing something about it. Sign up for Tripod's Monster Bumper Car League -- and kick some Yugo bumper!
Talk with other Tripod members about health, how to be healthy, and what to do when you're not, in the Medical Pod.
Lori Tuckett and Dan Reines, Health/Sports Editors
ALSO NEW ON TRIPOD
Every Friday a Tripod staffer shares a few informal (and occasionally downright weird) thoughts with our readers. This week software engineer Mike Dye tells us what he learned from a conversation about a dog that he overheard in a coffee shop.

DISCOVERING LYCOS
Tripodians are enjoying the new status as members of the Lycos family. In addition to its great search and navigation tools, Lycos also features Web Guides with all sorts of useful information. If you're planning spring travel or a summer vacation, check out the Travel Web Guide for expert advice, travel tips, reservations, and more!
We've got a bumper crop of new Tripodians this week. A quick rundown on the new folks:
Maggie Batista, Senior Producer - It's become disturbingly clear why Margaret Gould Stewart hired her: They've got the same first name, middle name, and hometown; and both attended universities in Boston and studied communications. Has Margaret hired a clone? Seriously, we're all looking forward to getting to know our new Maggie. Dwayne Miller, the new tech support guy, used to run a business fixing computers all over Berkshire County. Fixing computers in a single office should be a breeze. Welcome, Dwayne, to the toughest job you'll ever love.
Ad sales directors -- Lawrence Katzman, suave guy and savage ping-pong player, joins us as West Coast ad sales director. He used to sell ads for Geocities, so we figure he's already pretty familiar with Tripod. And Madhavi Saifee joins us as East Coast ad sales director. No reports on her ping-pong abilities... yet. We also welcomed Williamstown native Jonathan Buoni to the marketing department. He may not feel too welcome as we're more or less out of desks, but that's what you get for showing up late to the party. Welcome Jonathan, and that chair will be arriving any day now.
When these folks have been here long enough to do anything interesting or embarrasing, rest assured that the Tripod Insider will be here to bring you all the dirt.
My mailbox is always open.
