Tripod Insider

This week we bid a fond farewell to one of Tripod's best and brightest, engineer extraordinare Jeff Vanderclute. Jeff is heading off east -- to our parent company, Lycos, where he'll be responsible for Tripod and Lycos's European operations. Given Jeff's status as a confirmed francophile, the posting is especially appropriate. In fact, anyone who's asked Jeff a complex technical question and gotten a response in mellifluous French may wonder why we didn't put Jeff on a plane overseas years ago.

Jeff's move to Lycos leaves us short a great programmer who's had his hand in most of Tripod's coolest projects. More importantly, since Jeff is such a quirky guy, his departure leaves us drastically short on local color. To compensate for his absence, Nick and Derek have volunteered to periodically sleep on the office floor after working all night. Bo is rumored to be developing an interest in the acoustic guitar and Don Zereski's been seen reading existential philosophy. And we have no doubt that Kara will help pick up the slack that Jeff's departure will cause at Mezze, the local watering hole.

Me? I'm working on my French. Parlez vous C++?
