The more we learn about Tripod members the more amazed we are by their diversity, their creativity, the comments they make in our surveys, and their home pages. It is sort of like sitting at a table at a friend's wedding and discovering that your table-mates each have fascinating careers or interests, and suddenly the whole event becomes much more fun!
To nominate a page for consideration, please send mail to [email protected] with the URL of the Tripod member page. Currently, only Tripod Member Pages are eligible for the Tripod Top Twenty.
Here are some that the Tripod Web Page Jury have selected as particularly refreshing. This is the first list of winners: we'll regularly publish new Top Twenty lists as we discover more good pages. Jury selections are not listed in any particular order. You can also visit the our current Top Twenty Selections.
These are -- as we often remind ourselves -- solely the work of individual members, and not the work or responsibility of Tripod.
Jim's Chat Source Page is one of the most popular pages on our whole service, and a great source of information about a variety of chat pages.
The Happy Herp Page is a list of herpetological resources on the web. If you don't know what herpetology is, check it out.
The Online Newspaper is a nice source of news resources from all over the world.
Mr. Brown's Movie Site is really quite fine.
Jimbo's page is basically just a links collection, but it's well organized and not over the top -- we like the travel page.
Ma page a moi, un petit peu de detente is a page from a French member of Tripod. Our resident Francophile thinks the page is fun and well-designed.
Justin & Vin's Pub Crawl is just-launched and still very much under construction, devoted to some grand pubs. We liked it when they reported: "Summary: Quite simply the best pub in Armagh, and we wouldn't drink anywhere else (unless there's a Guinness promotion on somewhere)."
Internet Postcard Central is a comprehensive set of links to places where you can send electronic postcards.
Tabitha's Freebie Page is a nice collection of links to free stuff: free web pages, web authoring tools, product samples, games, coupons....
The Durfs are a band from Northeastern Ohio: they play "three chord punk tunes with a poppier edge." We think you should hire them.
Bill Grava's Home Page has an exhaustive set of links for a variety of subjects including food, technology, and financial infomation.
No Playa Hata's Allowed: Mad hip hop links to help you keep it real. "Throw your hands in the aiya -- if youz a true playa!"
Arkansas Residency Form. Is your humor hampered by the pc movement? No worries. Everybody knows that it's okay to trash white trash. This page is not recommended for the culturally sensitive.
100 Ways to Confuse Your Roommate: No links on this page, but some pretty ridiculous tricks for fans of SNL's Deep Thoughts.
Nicos Stavrou was Tripod's 25,000th member, and he quickly put up a very nice link page. We love pages like this: simple expressions of a person's enthusiasms and interests.
Amateur Radio Page has links to "all the important amateur radio sites in the world," including dealers, manufacturers, accessories, organizations....
Venky's Marriage Page on which one of Tripod's many members from India debates whether or not he should be married, the pros and cons of marrying him, and some links to marriage customs of his country.
The Coffee House on Grand is a rather heavily graphicked and somewhat relentlessly animated page, but has some nice chat/conversation possibilities -- they appear to have a cheerily Christian perspective.
Smashing Pumpkins Page is maintained by a fan, naturally, and has links to other fan sites, song lyrics, and for the extreeeeemely bored, music videos you can download (which ought to take you a loooong time).
The Life of Mark Twain is a report by two high school students for their English class. To quote the creators "Our teacher is not so lenient with grades, and we're getting good ones, thanks to Tripod!"
