What's in a name?That age-old question has been revived by the lawyers for JFK Jr.'s "George Magazine." They recently sent a letter to George Myers Jr. of Columbus, Ohio demanding that he take down his site, "george jr.", and stop using his georgejr.com domain name. They claim that their trademark is being violated.
Trademark law is always a confusing issue. As it makes the transition to the Internet, fiascos are sure to ensue. Are the lawyers for "George Magazine" a bunch of naive cyber-bullies? Or are they trying to prevent an opportunistic e-zine publisher from riding on their coattails?
