    Filenames

33.) Ending filenames with .html or .htm?

You should name your first file 'index.html', because that is the default file Web browsers look for in your member directory. For example, if you type in the URL 'http://members.tripod.com/~emma', you are actually taken to the page 'http://members.tripod.com/~emma/index.html'. The bottom line: naming your file 'index.html' shortens and simplifies the URL for your homepage. If you do not end your filename with '.html or 'htm'', it is possible that your Web browser will not be able to find your file and consequently, will not be able to display it properly.

34.) Illegal characters in a filename
You can only use one period (.) in your filename. Also, if you use characters like $, !, @, and ? your pages will not be displayed properly. To be safe, use only alphanumeric characters.
