Tripod needs a talented individual who will create visual design, including typography, visual concept, logo and icon design for the Web. This position will challenge designers to explore and gain expertise in the growing list of design tools in the Web environment. Must be effective communicator (listening and visualizing). Will need to coordinate with the Design Director, production team, and a variety of producers to make sure visual design communicates and functions successfully for varying technical and performance specifications. Ability to direct Production Artists and an understanding of the technical limitations of current web development issues. This position reports to the Design Director.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and communicate the goals of the project to the designers and production team.
- Lead expert in design software on MacOS. Expert knowledge of PhotoShop, Freehand and/or Illustrator required. Knowledge of Quark, Director, JavaScript, Flash, and 3D illustration a plus.
- Basic comprehension of information design, and site architecture. Professional understanding of HTML 3.2, capabilities of various browsers and design constraints on the Web.
- Lead design styles; provide a foundation and understanding of site consistency, in both print and computer mediums.
- Adhere to agreed upon delivery schedule coordinated with producers. Making sure producer is notified of any changes in schedule.
Skills/Experience Required
- 2-3 years experience in visual and informational design on the web; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and professionalism as client liaison.
- Demonstrated understanding of Tripod and/or its functionality.
- Successful experiences working on a team, and understanding of time management and correct use of resources in a creative department.
- Has interest in one or more developing design tools (video, digital, VRML, etc.)
- Previous team management skills or art director (agency level) experience a plus.
