| Position: user interface/information designer

Tripod needs a talented User Interface/Information Designer with at least four years design experience, and a minimum two years experience in interactive interface development for consumer market. An undergraduate degree in design or other relevant field is required. An MS in Human Computer Interaction is preferred, but not necessary if portfolio examples are available.
Responsibilities
- serving as lead user interface and information design resource to Media & Community Development department, and to Design Director (creative) and Technical Director (tech) in particular.
- application of interface and information design principle to wide range of web-based applications, and technologies.
- assisting Senior Producer and Design Director in establishing overall design strategy for creative projects.
- discovering and modeling user's need and work practices through research.
- translate data from user research into UI solutions, which address users' needs and reflect understanding of usability principles.
- determining sequence of questions, prompts, and results that allow users to accomplish tasks efficiently and seamlessly.
- leading and/or participating in design and usability evaluations.
- creation/documentation of information architecture for projects (i.e., flow-charts, and usability demonstrations)
- maintain current knowledge of user interface design and application with creative dept.
Skills/Experience Required
- quality examples of consumer interface design (i.e., interactive or industrial), or information organization and organic web development (i.e., large scale online community, database integration, training modules, or kiosk design)
- professional understanding of HTML 3.2 (NOTE: 4.0/DHTML a plus), capabilities of various browsers and design constraints on the Web.
- working knowledge of JavaScript and other various programming languages and tools desired.
- passion for highly functional and intuitive interfaces and user interaction
- diagramming software flow and interaction and creation of paper and digital prototypes; fast and effective sketching, storyboarding and prototyping skills.
- successful experiences working on a team, and understanding of time.
- BA in Computer Science or Indusurial design required
- MS in Human Interface design preferred
- knowledge of PhotoShop and other design applications
- demonstrated understanding of Tripod and/or its functionality
