BUSINESS &
COMMUNICATIONS
Bo Peabody
CEO and President
[email protected]
When he's not crunching numbers or forming alliances with the giants of the business world, Bo can be found getting away from it all in his beloved Massachusetts "out of doors." Many is the time we've seen him relaxing by making a cellular conference call to London while swooshing down the ski slopes, or raising venture capital from his PowerBook while fishing in the Green River (we had to convince him that it isn't called the Revenue Stream). On his rare down-time, Bo is the kind of guy who walks around "downtown" Williamstown and everyone says hello. He's like the sheriff of Silicon Forest.
Richard Sabot
Chairman
[email protected]
Dick is an esteemed professor who can spin economic theory and make it sound like epic literature. He's like an artist who paints with equations, or a jazz singer scatting to the beat of a ticker tape machine. We usually don't understand what the hell he's talking about, but he serves a vital function on the Tripod team: Dick's job is to tell us how great we're doing while drawing diagrams in the air to explain why we can't have a pool table until the company goes public.
Kara Berklich
Director of Communications
[email protected]
Around here, Kara likes to be called the Communicatrix. Hey, we don't ask for details, but we know she gives good PR. She can sling the Tripod news at the media with the speed and precision of a jai alai champion. Kara is an authority on the long-range plans for both the business and content production sides of the company -- which is pretty amazing considering that we pretty much make this stuff up as we go along.
Bruce Ludemann
Vice President of Administration
[email protected]
Bruce is a sweetheart, a prince of a guy. Okay, so he makes us grovel before he'll buy us the latest software and toys, and he would probably rather be fed to starving hyenas than let us drive his vintage 1968 Mustang convertible (289 V-8, power top, power steering, power brakes, AM/FM cassette player, rebuilt to specs). But he's still the kind of guy who'd give you the shirt off his back. Unless it's his Packers shirt, which seems to be welded to his body.
Ethan Zuckerman
Vice President of Research & Business Development
[email protected]
We refer to Ethan as Tripod's poster boy. He's got the classic Web-head look that photographers love -- long hair, intense stare, crazysexy trousers, and a disdain for all that is preppy (Bo excepted). But Ethan's no New Media snob -- if you need help finding (and eating) the most bearable cheap sushi in whatever Godforsaken town you live in, he's your man. But beware: Our Supergeek also seems to have a cast-iron stomach.Colleen Harwood
Administrative Assistant
[email protected]
The dirty little secret about Tripod is that Colleen is the only one who actually has a clue about the day-to-day business. One could say that all of the fast-talking financial wranglers and testy creative types are "too focused" to learn about little details like shipping packages, booking travel, and finding their own snail mail. We're not sure if it's something we did that drove her to move to neighboring Vermont, but we are concerned about those calls from local day-care centers asking her for pointers on dealing with "difficult children."
