communications and marketing

Scott Walker
VP of Marketing
[email protected]

It seems that all those years of skimming book manuscripts at Graywolf Press paid off, because Scott is the fastest thinker in Berkshire County. By the time the rest of us drag our sorry butts into work, he's already boned up on the latest Internet news and sent everybody e-mail messages about it — while simultaneously reading the New York Times and having market reports fed intravenously. Having three kids makes him the perfect boss, since tantrums don't faze him. He just e-mails a couple of hundred messages until we've calmed down. Hey, that's why we love him.

Kara Berklich
Director of Communications and Brand Marketing
[email protected]

Around here, Kara likes to be called the Communicatrix. Hey, we don't ask for details, but we know she gives good PR. She can sling the Tripod news at the media with the speed and precision of a jai alai champion. Kara is an authority on the long-range plans for both the business and content production sides of the company — which is pretty amazing considering that we pretty much make this stuff up as we go along.

Matt Goldberg
Product Manager, Tripod Print
[email protected]

Once upon a time, Matt volunteered to be Tripod's first Virtual Employee. Ensconced in a cramped studio apartment in New York City, Matt warmed to the role of guinea pig, pretending that the stuffed animals perched on his loft were helpful and congenial coworkers. (We know, that's pretty pathetic but at least he never had to buy them lunch.) Anyway, now that he is all set up in Tripod's swanky new offices in New York's SoHo district, Matt can talk on the phone and surf the Web simultaneously. He's even putting together a Tripod book for Hyperion Press. Oh yeah, and he can go to the bathroom without having to close down the joint. Now we're getting somewhere!

Rebecca Foisy
Marketing Associate
[email protected]

After lurking through college as BQ (Biology Queen) the lab geek who never lost a limbo contest, Rebecca has migrated from Boston to Billsville and emerged as a Web geek with a penchant for playing violent sports (rugby, field hockey, ice hockey) and a secret love of anything disco (protect that disco ball, Siouxsie!). We have harnessed her energies attempting to keep both our commerce partners and our members happy (good thing she has those violent sports to release her frustrations).

Jonathan Buoni
Marketing Associate
[email protected]

Just a year ago Jonathan was living in Milan, Italy, working on his MBA at the SDA Bacconi with a special focus in the management of fashion and design companies. After receiving his degree, he was faced with a difficult decision: Stay in Milan and work in an industry dominated by beautiful women? Or return to his native Williamstown to work among the oh-so-fashionable folks at Tripod? Jonathan confesses that he is still slightly surprised by his choice, but the Tripod United soccer team is determined to keep him and his fabulous flying feet here in the Purple Valley.

Tim Breen
Homepage-Builder Product Manager
[email protected]

You know how Don likes the weather? Well, Tim is a meteorologist and a friend of Don's who appeared on our doorstep just as La Niña was about to take over from El Niño. Coincidence? We think not! Tim has combined his passion for the weather with his passion for the internet in a number of product marketing and management positions with two online information companies that specialized in real-time weather information and graphics. Tripod is frequently as unpredictable as the weather, so we're sure Tim will feel right at home.

Amber Braman
Administrative Assistant, Marketing
[email protected]

Amber has a degree in Biology — which is, of course, why we hired her as the Administrative Assistant for the Marketing Department. Amber claims she enjoys a challenge, which would account for her switching from biology to marketing, and for why she lives in Vermont, works in Massachusetts, and has her son in day care in New York. Amber dutifully lists spending time with her husband and son as her primary interest, although she admits they would probably say that talking on the phone occupies most of her time.
