Emma Jane Taylor
Senior Editor
[email protected]

Emma brings a much-needed touch of British reserve and class to the gaggle of hooligans at Tripod. While the rest of us are pinging off the walls in a deadline frenzy, Emma calmly sips her four dozen daily cups of tea and peacefully types away to the strains of classical music on NPR. But anyone who has seen her muscle her way to the front of the cocktail queue at local watering hole Mezze or watched her set off airport metal detectors with her belly-button ring knows that there's an unpredictable side to our demure English rose.

Dan Reines
Editor, Society/Culture, Sports
[email protected]

Dan decided that Tripod was the place for him after all the newspapers he worked for abruptly went out of business. We're not sure how well his presence here bodes for Tripod's future, but damn it, we like living on the edge. Dan left the City of the Angels in '96 and showed up in Williamstown with an elaborate goatee to rival Randy's, a seriously stylish Los Lobos hat, and a boatload of bracing wit and snarky humor. Dan's the kind of guy who keeps us honest by cutting us no slack, and we love him for it. There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that the rest of the editorial staff is planning an elaborate "payback."

Gail M. Burns
Assistant Editor
[email protected]

Native New Yorker Gail Burns is clearly meant to be an editor: she has been writing since she was three (before she could write, which makes reading her early works a challenge). Rumor has it her days as the Tripod receptionist are still present in her mind; she's admitted to answering her home phone, "Good afternoon, Tripod, this is Gail." Despite her allergy to shellfish with legs, Gail lives the good life in a testosterone-filled house with her husband, two sons, father-in-law, and nephew.

Gayle O'Brien
Assistant Editor
[email protected]

Gayle is the second in Tripod's collection of editorial staff named Gayle/Gail who have graduated from Sarah Lawrence College (hey, hardly anyone else collects them!). To avoid any confusion we call her by her e-mail address: gobrien. Gayle's rubber band shooting skills improved rapidly during her days in the membership department when she sat WAY too close to Dwayne's office. When she isn't shooting rubber bands, she likes to garden, have her car fixed, and chase her two cats.
