Josh Glenn
Editorial Director

We poached Josh from the Utne Reader, and he's the hippest geek you'll ever meet. He's totally plugged into the media scene and even thinks he might have played a sport once. (Yeah, like full-contact croquet). Josh may look suspiciously like Adam Sandler disguised with stylish eyeglasses, but our Mr. Glenn is a serious guy -- serious about Bruce Lee flicks, about his huge collection of zines, and about his contacts in the publishing world. He's got a Rolodex the size of an ottoman, and he's not afraid to use it.Emma Jane Taylor
Living & Travel Editor

Emma brings a much-needed touch of British reserve and class to the gaggle of hooligans at Tripod. While the rest of us are pinging off the walls in a deadline frenzy, Emma calmly sips her four dozen daily cups of tea and peacefully types away to the strains of classical music on NPR. But anyone who has seen her muscle her way to the front of the cocktail queue at the Purple Pub or watched her set off airport metal detectors with her belly-button ring knows that there's an unpredictable side to our demure English rose.
Randy Williams
Work & Money Editor

Why, some of us asked ourselves, did Randy choose to live all the way over in the city of North Adams, instead of in bucolic Williamstown, near us? Is it so he can concentrate on his mysterious late-night "projects" without being disturbed? (Writing poetry? If you say so...) Or is it because he's not allowed to play his prized collection of Elvis Costello CDs at top volume over here? Oh well, it just means that we have to drive an extra ten minutes to barge in on him and demand that he show us that famous Southern hospitality...or at least a few of the hundreds of "Simpsons" episodes he has on tape.Michelle Chihara
TriTeca Editor

Michelle is the product of a Japanese-American philosopher and a Brooklyn Jew. Her dad (the philosopher) used Michelle to test his theories until she fled Berkeley for a little East coast education. Savvy, sophisticated, with sexy suede pants, Michelle is Tripod's token urban sophisticate. We still can't figure out how the hell we got her to leave the East Village. Rumor has it she has a thing for Pakistani accents. Good luck finding one in Williamstown.
Lori Tuckett
Editorial Assistant

Lori used to work at MacNeil/Lehrer Productions, but she got tired of dealing with cranky, opinionated old fogies. We're sure the change will do her good -- now she's working with cranky, opinionated young Web dorks. Her senior thesis at Yale was entitled, "The Economic Prospects of Russia's Transition to Capitalism." Sounds deep, but we were more intrigued to learn that she was offered the chance to be a "featured player" on MTV's soap opera verité, "Real World: San Francisco." We're awfully proud that she'd rather be part of "Surreal World: Billsville."
Dan Reines
Editorial Assistant

Dan decided that Tripod was the place for him after all the newspapers he worked for abruptly went out of business. We're not sure how well his presence here bodes for Tripod's future, but damn it, we like living on the edge. Dan recently left the City of Angels and showed up in Williamstown with an elaborate goatee to rival Randy's and a seriously stylish Los Lobos hat. Let's hope looking good helps him maintain his self-esteem, since we're getting so crowded around here he's working in a broom closet.
Matt Goldberg
Editor-in-Chief, Tools For Life Magazine
[email protected]
Once upon a time, Matt volunteered to be Tripod's first Virtual Employee. Ensconced in a cramped studio apartment in New York City, Matt warmed to the role of guinea pig, happily working away on Tripod's Tools for Life magazine, pretending that the stuffed animals perched on his loft were helpful and congenial coworkers. (We know, that's pretty pathetic -- but at least he never had to buy them lunch). Anyway, now that he is all set up in Tripod's New York office, Matt can talk on the phone and surf the Web simultaneously. Oh yeah, and he can go to the bathroom without having to close down the joint. Now we're getting somewhere!
