Today marks a day of great change for Tripod.com. We listened to what you, our members, have been asking for — a Tripod community that's easier — to navigate, understand, and use.
Starting today, Wednesday, August 26, Tripod has a brand-new look and navigation, defined by our four primary sections: Build, Explore, Interact, and Buy/Sell. You can still build great homepages, explore great content, and meet with other people who share your interests — we've just made these things easier to find and more clear to use. Buy/Sell is a new addition to Tripod — you'll find great deals here, and you can earn cash or credit by selling stuff (from partners like CDnow) on your site.
Here's how it works:
The Build section is home to the newly-named Homepage Studio (formerly known as the Tripod Homepage Builder). Here, new and learning builders can create homepages with ready-to-use layout templates, and content templates like our Recipe Publisher, Celebrity Fan Page Builder, and Baby Page Builder. Experienced builders can create homepages from scratch with the Custom Builder tools. All builders can edit and update their pages with Tripod's Homepage Housekeeper. And, of course, homepage building Help/Features are here too. The Build section also highlights various homepage Add-ons, including:
- Guestbooks from Guestworld — track and get feedback from visitors to your site.
- Web Site Accessories — spice up your homepage with links to great content, games, and services on Tripod.
- Tripod Homepage Mover — mirror your page on Tripod and tell your friends, all in three easy clicks.
- Online Answering Machine — Friends and family can get in touch with you anytime � from anywhere!
- Picture Gallery — Browse the Lycos Image Gallery for more than 40,000 free images.
You can now easily explore the multitude of terrific homepages that other members are building. Browse through Tripod's 14 Zones to find homepages about Entertainment, Computers/Internet, Jobs/Career, Home/Family, Women, Society/Culture, Health/Fitness, Fun&Games, Money/Business, Shopping, Teens, Cars&Trucks, Travel, and Sports. You can also rank each site you visit to ensure that other visitors find the best pages in each category.
The Interact section is the new home of Tripod's special interest groups, called "Pods." These are the areas where you can interact with other people who share your interests and hobbies. You can join any number of the more than 100 available Pods — each offers a regular newsletter, live chats, message boards, and a distinct look and feel.
Here's the great part: You can now click to the dedicated Buy/Sell area to get great deals on music, books, software and more, or quickly and easily set up your own "online store" (don't get scared, building a store simply means adding links to your page or trying an easy-to-use Tripod store-building template that takes less than 10 minutes for a beginner!) through Tripod's current e-commerce partners: CDnow.com, barnesandnoble.com, and Software Buyline. Tripod will continue to add additional e-commerce partners in coming months, offering you ever-more opportunities to get great deals and make money!
