Last Friday night at TLA Video, Katie and Aishah ganged up on me, expressing concern that my job was turning me into an "emotionless slug." They suggested I take my planned vacation sooner rather than later. I told them that for now I'd have to settle for vicarious thrills...I was on the lookout for films about women like me who were dying to hit the road, any road. Katie and Aishah jumped on the bandwagon.
Despite such simple criteria women...traveling...in a film we argued an awful lot.
We definitely missed several traveling women on film this weekend.
I'm trying to talk TLA Video into setting up a "Go West, Young Woman!" shelf or three. It would be great if only for those restless summers and holidays when any woman, young or not, starts dreaming of being anywhere but where she is. If ever proof was needed that women can and do tread their own paths, these films are it.
