Belgium:
Wallonie
The people of Wallonie speak French and share much of their cultural heritage with their French neighbors to the south. Fortunately, they don't share the notorious French rudeness. Walloons are nearly as hospitable as the Flemish to English-speaking travelers, but fewer Walloons actually speak English. Still, they're patient and probably won't laugh at your wounded French. You have to give the Walloons a break, though--they're still trying to deal with their relatively new position of political and financial inferiority to Flanders. Generally, this is the less interesting of Belgium's two regions--the cities don't have half the allure of Antwerp or Brugge--but the hills and forests of the Ardennes to the east make Wallonie a hot spot for outdoor thrill seekers.
