Finland:
The Southwest
The southwest is Finland's quiet, hard-working agricultural region, dotted with farms and fields. Cities along the Gulf of Bothnia have become industrialized since World War II, but the rest of the region remains steadfastly rural. The liveliest town is Turku, one of Finland's major ports and the site of two universities. West of Turku, the beautiful Åland Islands offer great outdoor activities, especially for cyclists.
