The South
The South of England is like London's rich, plump, self-satisfied old mother-in-law. It is the wealthiest region in England, as well as the most conservative. The wealth of the region--coupled with its proximity to London--does ensure that any revolution in English pop culture will soon make its way down to the South. Plus, the scenery in the South is consistently impressive; if the sights get you down, flee the towns and take long walks through the forests, or go for long bike rides through the placid countryside.
