Northern Hungary
Don't make the mistake of skipping northern Hungary just because it doesn't get a lot of press. Be one of the enlightened few to appreciate the region's winsome towns and peaceful wheat, corn, potato, and sunflower fields. Opportunities for recreation abound: Three mountain ranges provide ample hiking and biking trails as well as many caves for spelunking enthusiasts. Historic sites include the Eger castle and the renowned village of Hollóko;;, where residents dress in traditional costumes. The temperate, hilly region produces excellent wines, including Eger's Bull's Blood.
