Q: How much will I get paid? A: If the number of ad impressions served on your page meets or exceeds 1,000 per day, you will earn $1 for every 1,000 ad impressions served on your page. If the number of ad impressions served on your page is between 100 and 999 ad impressions per day, you will earn $.50 for every 1,000 ad impressions served. Q: What is an ad impression? A: An ad impression is one instance of Tripod serving an ad to your page. As a member of the Builder Bucks program, you have two options for serving ads to your page. One is the traditional Tripod pop-up ad. With this option, an ad is served on your page approximately every three times your page is viewed. The second option is to place an embedded ad on your page. The benefit to this option is that you will receive ad-impression credit every time your page is viewed. NOTE: You must place your embedded ad within the first scroll of your page. Q: What is a page view? A: A page view is defined as a user downloading a collection of files constituting a single Web page from a Tripod server. This may include multiple "hits" if the page is composed of multiple files and/or servers. Q: How will I be paid? A: You will be paid once per quarter, provided that you have earned the right to receive at least $25 in commissions for a given quarter. Any unpaid monies earned in one quarter shall be paid in the next quarter in which your total commissions equal at least $25. Q: How will I get paid? A: Your checks will be mailed to the address with which you signed up for the Builder Bucks program. Q: How will I know how much I have earned? A: Check your status page for updates. Q: How do I update my Builder Bucks information? A: Go to the Builder Bucks Update Information page. Q: Why do you need my Social Security number? A: In order to receive your payment and the appropriate tax information once you've been accepted into the Builder Bucks program, you must provide Tripod with your Social Security number. Print out a W9 Form, fill in your information, and mail it back to Tripod. If you do not have a printer, you may request that a form be sent to you by e-mailing [email protected]. You may download the W9 Form here. Don't forget to read the instructions. Please do not send us your W9 form until you have been officially accepted into the Builder Bucks program. If you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 or higher, get Adobe Acrobat Reader now. Q: Do I have to pay taxes on the money I earn through Builder Bucks? A: You are solely responsible for all tax obligations. If you have questions about the taxes you need to pay, please consult a tax advisor. For a full explanation, please see the Legal Agreement. Q: How do I get a W9 form? A: Please print out our W9, fill in your information, and mail it back to Tripod, either via [email protected], or snail mail. If you do not have a printer, you may request that a form be sent to you by e-mailing [email protected], or you may download the W9 Form and read the instructions. If you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 or higher, get Adobe Acrobat Reader now. Q: Do the Terms of Service still apply? A: Yes. As always, you must comply with Tripod's Terms of Service. Q: Are non-profit organizations eligible? A: Yes, non-profit organizations are welcome to participate in the program. Please send us your Tax ID number instead of your personal Social Security number. All regular tax rules that are consistent with your non-profit status apply. Q: What constitutes fraud in relation to the Builder Bucks program? A: Restrictions are in place to prevent you from fraudulently increasing your Web-site traffic. This includes such activities as manually hitting the "reload" button on your page several times, or setting your meta tags to automatically refresh the page. Tripod will be monitoring the IP addresses that "hit" on your page. Anyone who fraudulently generates page views will be removed from the program. Q: Why don't my TripodStat figures or my page counter match the figures you've compiled for this program? A: "Impressions" are normally counted only once for each unique IP address, for each separate URL per minute. An impression is when one ad served by Tripod appears on one page view. Q: Why doesn't my embedded ad work? A: It's possible that you've copied the code incorrectly, or placed it in the wrong section of your HTML. Cut and paste this code in between the <BODY> and </BODY> tags in your page's HTML: <!--#tripod_embed type="ad"--> Q:Why do I get a pop-up ad even though I selected embedded ads? A: If you've chosen the embedded-ad option, but have neglected to insert the necessary code, you may be served a pop-up ad. You must place the embedded-ad tag in each HTML file in order to get the embedded ad as the most prominent one on the page. Be sure to use this code: <!--#tripod_embed type="ad"--> Q: Do I need to drop my Premium Membership to be part of Builder Bucks? A: No, just the "no-ad" portion. If you choose to cancel your "no-ad" status, either go here to cancel it, or e-mail [email protected] with your member name, date of birth, and a request for a refund. Your refund will be sent to you with your first quarter of Builder Bucks program earnings. Q: Can I earn more cash by visiting my site myself? A: No, we have protective measures in place to make sure that everyone tries to attract unique visitors to their sites. Q: Do I get more cash for having a lot of graphics and frames on my page? A: Sorry, we count the page as a whole. One page view is considered a collection of files that constitutes a single Web page. Q: Do I get any kind of bonus? A: Yes, you do! If you maintain or increase your page views over the course of the year, you'll get a 20% bonus! Q: I don't want to participate in Builder Bucks anymore. How do I quit? A: If you wish to end your participation in the Builder Bucks program, please e-mail us at: [email protected]. Please include your member name, date of birth, and be sure that your request comes from the e-mail address you used to register. If you send this request from a different mail account, please be sure to include the e-mail address with which you registered. Q: What happens after I've quit the program? A. When you end your participation, you may forfeit any amount under $25 that you have accumulated. If you've amassed more than $25 prior to quitting, you'll receive a check for that amount during the next quarter. |
