It's summer and you should be reading something pointless.
Being shrewd marketers, publishers know that our summer reading needs are basic, so they give us exactly what we want: trash. They load us up, on crime dramas, cheesy romances, cookie-cutter mysteries and ambitious stories from ambitious names like Koontz or Grisham or King.
Best of all, we get celebrity autobiographies those ghostwritten, make-a-fast-buck offerings from stars both bright and dim. "Best of all" because the last thing we desire, from our beach towel or hammock or sofa, is to have to think too hard. And with most celebrity memoirs, the hardest thinking required comes in deciding precisely whose book to read.
On this note, we proudly present the following public service: a special, Summer Edition, at-a-glance Tripod summary of celebrity memoirs.
Intro | Suzanne Somers | Peter Fonda | Delta Burke
Christopher Reeve | Walter Koenig | Marilyn Manson
