The mind blowing results of the original (1997) monolithicaly epic Contest of Peeps! (1998 winners are here.) When we came up with the "Memories of Peeps Contest," we assumed that a dozen or so people were as much in love with those little blobs of marshmallow fluff as we were. Two weeks and 500+ entries later, we have confirmed that Peeps are a vital part of our childhood (and, to a disturbing degree, our adulthood). Peeps are as closely associated with Easter as bunnies, ham, your Aunt Ruthie, and for some, even Jesus. While no one is exactly sure what is in the secret "peeps" formula, it must be okay 'cause the FDA hasn't banned the delectable little confections yet. If drinkin' is bad for you, and smokin' will kill you, at least you've got Peeps — right? As we expected, our members came up with some creative answers. What we didn't expect was to be really scared; some of these entries read like Stephen King novels. A few of the judges from the contest have yet to be coaxed out from under their desks. Rejected subjects from the short story category include "The Peep Files," "Cannibalistic Peeps: The Donner Peeps," "Texas Peepsaw Massacre," and finally "The Long Island Peep Story." What some people suggested should be done with Peeps just ain't right. You know who you are, and now you know you need help. So here they are, grouped in categories that revealed themselves to us as we waded through Peep memories from Tripod members around the globe: The Grand Prize Winner!
