To a lot of people Super Bowl Sunday means pizza, beer, and a good game of ball.
Here on Tripod, it means something a little different. Read Dan Reines' hilarious letter to a Super Bowl Schlub,
build a Web page for your favorite player/team, and find cool member pages, jock-style CDs, and football books to satisfy any fan.
But, don't get us wrong we're all for pizza, beer, and Sunday games on TV!

| Open Letter to That Lucky Schlub by Dan Reines |
Come Super Bowl Sunday, about a billion people worldwide will rivet themselves
to their television sets in hopes of watching a halfway decent ballgame. More
likely than not, they will be disappointed. But at the halftime of that game, the
six or seven hundred of those people who keep watching mainly folks
who've lost their remotes will have a chance to see a true human drama,
a rags-to-riches story of the highest caliber. Those people will get to see
some lucky schlub try to kick a field goal for a chance at a couple million
dollars and three fleeting minutes of Diana-ish fame. For that schlub, this is
a remarkable moment, and it's not something that should be treated lightly.
Which is why I kindly fellow that I am have drafted the
following:
Dear Friend:
I don't need to tell you that what you've got here is a once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity. Play your cards right, and you'll spend the rest of your days
being hand-fed grapes by a gaggle of fawning models on the deck of your very
own 40-foot yacht. On the other hand, if you screw this up, you'll never live
it down. Men and women will forever invoke your name to describe a
particularly
ignominious bungle, and children will dress up as you for Halloween in hopes of
evoking sympathy and, therefore, extra candy. What I'm saying is, there's a
lot
riding on this. And if you want to rise above it, you're going to have to work
on three things: conditioning, game day prep, and proper
celebration.
