Spike Gillespie
|
![]() Spike Gillespie is the self-titled "Madonna of the Infobahn." She began with the Veterinary Practice Management Magazine, moved on to term papers (not her own); she has written for "Playboy," and she has even written a Tampax booklet. She now writes a weekly column and profile for "Avenue W," Prodigy's forum for women's issues, and is working on a memoir for Simon and Schuster. You can read the rest of her story at http://www.marystreet.com/SPIKE. To subscribe to her weekly column and profile (you can get it by email if you're not a Prodigy member) email Spike a note at [email protected]. (If you ask her for profile #42 you'll get to see the questions that Spike asked me.) Emma J. Taylor, Living & Travel Editor Part One: Spike on women on the Web: "Let's say it like this for those intimidated by the concept of feminism -- I write about women's issues because I'm a woman who takes issue with everything." Part Two: Spike on writing: "For every article published, there are at least a thousand people who a) say "I could've written that" and b) didn't." Part Three: Spike on online love: Think of a first date -- would you say, "So, how many social diseases have you had?" Part Four: Spike on her soapbox: (A screwed up kid grows up to be) that redneck in the grocery store smacking his kids and saying, "Your mama is a bitch and you're stupid."
