Content And Services

HOMELIFE
This week in Living and Travel, 23-year-old novelist Ashley Warlick talks about the South and the myth of young angst. The Great American Roadtrip moves on from Chicago to Madison and Minneapolis. The doctor, as usual, is in. This week: Is body waxing harmful? Does HIV always lead to AIDS? Can floating eye spots be cured? Join the debate on sports and patriotism: Are you more loyal to your team than your country? Coming next week: Tripod is an official supporter of the 1996 Malaysian Olympic team. Visit the Living and Travel section for interviews with the athletes and officials, and the latest results from Team Malaysia. We hear they have a pretty hot badminton team.

WORK & MONEY
It seems the Work & Money section has a split personality this week! Harry Goldstein's "Working Life" column looks at the phenomenon of cognitive dissonance -- or being of two minds -- in the workplace. Elsewhere, the Survey on personal success and the Dilemma question on finance for couples are serious business, but the feedback on the newly organized archives and surveys have sounded like Tripod members are actually having fun with them! Finally, the conclusion of our interview with Ad Blocker creator and PrivNet CEO James Howard reveals that he would rather be an actor. Since your fearless editor is a Gemini, these developments are fine with both of him.

POLITICS & COMMUNITY
This week in the Politics & Community Section, Andre C. Willis explains the historical importance of the Black Church. This is the first in a two-part series exploring the black church burnings. Political Playbook details some of the pre-election legislation brewing in Congress. We make it simple to contact your Congress members and give them a piece of your mind. Plus, sound off on the controversial topic of same-sex marriage in the weekly survey.

PLANET TRIPOD
Planet Tripod is for and about Tripod Members and this week we introduce Editor's Choice, a new feature that showcases more Tripod Member homepages. While the Top Twenty is a list of member pages we happen to like, Editor's Choice pages were chosen for their relevance to each Tripod section. Is your page worthy enough to be an Editor's Choice? Take a look, then let us know!

Tripod Insider

This week the Tripod Team found new and exciting ways to play outside the office. Last Friday, Bruce hosted a good old-fashioned poker game with Anthony, Mike, Matt, and Janet. After a slow start, Janet, the rookie of the bunch, proved poker isn't just for boys and was the big winner at the end of the night. Now we're all saving our change for the next poker outing.

The next event is self-explanatory: monster truck rally. Anthony, Matt, Bo, and Jeff, among others, embarked on an unparalleled cultural experience. In Matt's own words, it was an "opportunity to revel in the sheer enthusiasm inspired by these incredible machines." Matt was so inspired he wants to compete in the local race circuit and crash cars instead of servers.

Clearly, it was a busy week for Anthony, who also celebrated a birthday. No one thought to give him a Monster Truck, but he was actually surprised by his surprise party. The party was a success, evidenced by the fact that Anthony spent the most of the next morning asleep in the tech suite.
