Welcome to another Tripod Insider -- your source for all things Tripod. This week we welcome a new staff member, take the class picture, and the new cat is all over the office. Read more about it after the editors fill you in on what's new on Tripod.
Content And Services
WORK & MONEY
When you're hot, you're hot -- and the Work & Money section has been on a roll lately! Joining our regular columnists (Beth Kobliner, Ken Kurson, Harry Goldstein, and Catherine Hedgecock) is Bruce Tulgan, best-selling author of "Managing Generation X," who will be doing a special eight-part series for Tripod. These "X-Nuggets" will give rock-solid advice to workers in the transition generation, and this week's first installment is a doozy on surviving the post-job security era. Also, be sure to check out the latest installment in Catherine Hedgecock's "Eclectic Avenues" series on unusual careers as she talks to a professional water skier. There's also a review of Michael ("Roger & Me") Moore's new book "Downsize This!" and our usual wealth of resources, services, and surveys. Drop by and catch the biz buzz!

POLITICS & COMMUNITY
This week in Politics & Community, William Cronon discusses why the grocery store is the most important "moral location" for contemplating our relationship to nature. Check out part two of this provocative Tripod interview. Political Playbook examines the costs of Clinton's recent campaign proposals and shows where Dole stands on the same issues. We review Mira Nair's "Salaam Bombay!" in Tools for Thought. Don't let the subtitles scare you. And the weekly survey asks: Why don't scandals and allegations diminish Clinton's lead? Tell us what you think.

LIVING & TRAVEL
This week in Living & Travel, our homeopathy series concludes with a guide to homeopathic remedies for home ailments, from hangovers to menstrual pain. Doctor Bob examines the importance of penis size, the pros and cons of allergy shots, and the risks of Redux, the weight loss drug. You can play doctor too: diagnose a down and dirty rugby injury. On a lighter note, Tools for Thought reviews the Magnetic Poetry Kit, and in the survey, revisit the old school assignment and tell us what you did this summer.

Another month, another new employee. Tripod welcomes Nick Branstator, who is the newest member of the Tech Team. After his interview, he just loitered around the office for the weekend so we hired him rather than deal with kicking him out. As it turns out, he's a pretty good programmer.Unfortunately Nick was not here for the big company photo last Saturday. We all gathered at the office at 9:00 a.m. and it was probably the largest number of staff ever to be in the offices that early, let alone on a Saturday. After the company wide picture, some of us had to line up for our individual portraits. It was just like grade school except that we didn't get plastic combs.
Trixie, the new office cat, stole the show at the photo shoot and has been getting most of the attention around here these days. She has a habit of sitting on top of desks in the most inconvenient spots. Her favorite spot is on a mouse pad. A cat on a mouse pad...coincidence? I think not.
