Garbage in, nothing out. As England's BBC announces plans for a 24-hour cable channel in the United States, Michael Agger wonders why it is that moldy old TV shows from the U.S. are so popular around the world -- while we have traditionally seen so little international programming here.
Must see TV? Are there any good television shows out there or are the TV waves just manipulating us? Join the club, in the TV Lounge Pod.
Randy Williams, Media Editor
Is Microsoft really a big, bad bully forcing Internet Explorer on us? Daniel Weinshenker boils the whole affair down to an analogy of sucking wands -- on vacuums-- and shows that Netscape has a pathetic business approach . Read all about it in "The AntiTrust Vacuum or: Sucking Up to Microsoft."
If you brake for yard sales, or make weekly pilgrimages to the local thrift shop, you need to be in the Second Hand Pod.

It's back to business at Tripod (sort of) as people slowly trickle back to the office from their holiday breaks. Not only is it hard enough to get back into the swing of things, but it seems that lots of the staff came back with one ailment or the other. Even C.E.Bo was not immune, as he was coughing up all sorts of stuff this week. Of course that didn't keep him from calling all sorts of meetings though.
Sick or not, there's still plenty of work to be done. So much, in fact, that we're bringing back some ghosts of Tripod past. Three former Tripodians can be found wondering the office. Sarah Thurston, an intern from last summer, is back for a few weeks to help out the Site Management folks; DeWitt Clinton, a former employee, is helping the Tech Department; and Sys. Admin emiritus, Jon Butler, still can't let go and is continuing to do some contract work. He's kind of like a grandparent who shows up to play with the kids. Once a Tripod employee, always a Tripod employee -- shackles and all (just no more stock options).
