The entire Tripod staff was psyched to meet Tyler Valdez, the tyro columnist who writes all about her life in "Tyler's Mad Crib" for our Teen Zone. She was up from Boston this week to check out Williams, the classy college that gives its name to the "cute" town (in Tyler's own words) where Tripod is located. While here, she stopped by the offices to say hello.

Readers know Tyler always speaks her mind, so we weren't surprised by her comments on all the fleece vests and Birkenstocks, and her complaints about the smell of burning rubber from downstairs. She couldn't believe that Tripod is located over what she called a "hose factory"! Well, it's actually a cable factory, but hose factory works too.

After a tour of Tripod World Headquarters and plenty of free sodas, a couple of us took Tyler out to dinner at the fabulous local bistro, Mezze. We finally convinced her that we were pretty darn cool after all. Watch her column — maybe she'll give her side of the story!
