What exactly is a "Membership Director" anyway, let alone a letter from one? Every so often I ask myself that very question. Someone once compared me to Julie McCoy, the bubbly Cruise Director on the Love Boat. While I do not play shuffleboard and only occasionally help people find true love, I do try to make your experience with Tripod a pleasant one.

Membership is at the core of Tripod's mission and it's my job to ensure that the needs of our members are addressed. It's important that Tripod is engaging and easy to use. If a member has a problem with Tripod, I do my best to resolve that problem. I probably answer more email before 9:00 AM than most people do the whole day!

Much of the hype about the Internet often focuses on the incredible amount of information available. People rave about how the Web is so vast, quick, convenient, and anonymous. I believe that the Internet is also about people. Here at Tripod, membership is very much about people and developing relationships with them. We try to put names and faces behind our website and encourage our members to break from their anonymity by building their own homepages and voicing their opinions in our surveys.

Enter Planet Tripod. Now there is more opportunity for Tripod members to contribute to Tripod. Planet Tripod showcases Member pages for other people to see and enjoy. You can also take advantage of tips and tricks from members, or submit your own. For more homepage advice, participate in the weekly Homepage Dilemmas where members can pose their own problems for other members to answer. Another new feature is Member Profiles. We want to get to know you as you continue to get to know us. Member Profiles is yet another opportunity for members to get know each other.

We made Planet Tripod specifically for members and this is just the beginning. The success of this area will depend on the members because it is the members who make Tripod more than just a website.
