2. The Hometown Pod is experiencing a burst of published pages and I feel that we should welcome our newest members. This will be a regular newsletter feature. If by some chance, you joined our group of Hometown published homepages after July 29, 1999 (our last newsletter), and I overlooked you, not only do I offer my profound apologies, but will add you to the next newsletter if you'll e-mail me ([email protected]) and let me know.
Without further fanfare, I'd like to welcome the following new published members, to what I believe to be one of the best Pods here at Tripod!
The Ultimate Chicago Page
motorhead2000 joined us on August 1, 1999, and offers tons of related links about Chicago.
Wellcome to NYIRTURA
August 1, 1999 brought us NagyA joined us with photographs and memories of his hometown, Nyirtura, Hungry.
Homefires Burning
Gloryangels joined August 21, 1999, and while her pages don't seem to be near completion yet, the front page is interesting. Maybe a place to bookmark and check back later.
Gelean Grove
Also joing us on August 21, publisher gelean offers you a very clever tree (laden with hidden urls) about British Columbia, Canada.
brendanichols
brendanichols not only joined us on August 23, 1999, but when on to become the current Best of Pod! You're find at her Clinch Mountain Home.
Again, a warm welcome to our new published members! We hope you enjoy your experiences at Tripod's Hometown Pod!

3. If you're interested in building an award winning page, the criteria for Best of Pod is rather simple. We're looking for pages that are on topic. This means when you join the Hometown Pod, your pages should be about a hometown. We're looking for pages that maintain fresh content, load easily, and are visually appealing (no broken images, etc.). We're also looking for original content, which means you tell/show us your material in your words/images, not just with links to other sites (a homepage with nothing but links to other sites is never considered for Best of Pod, no matter how appealing the links are presented).
Simple, huh? Check out the Best of Pod pages to get an idea of what is award winning. Some may contain links to other sites, but the majority of the links lead to other pages by the publisher to related pages they built and parked on Tripod.
If you need help with building tools, please check out the Better Builders Pod. One great thing about Tripod is that they offer everyone the chance to build a great homepage, from beginners to experts!

4. While searching for some home repair tips, I found the
Lighthouse Home Repair site. Not only are you offered lots of handy links to home repair sites the site owner invites you to e-mail him with questions.

5. To find out what's new on Tripod, please visit the What's New page. From the Tripod Auction, TeenSpeak, to a Tripod Browser (I downloaded and although this is my first day using it, haven't had any problems and enjoy the feature where I can personalize the look I want on the Browser). Keep in touch with what Tripod is offering us!
Tripod is still actively searching for volunteers. Speaking from experience, it's a great deal of fun, you get to meet a lot of interesting people, and it's an extreme learning experience. If you'd like to volunteer to help at the Hometown Pod (or any Pod that grabs your interest, simply fill out a short form located at theVolunteer page to get the ball rolling. Even if you're not interested in volunteering, the page is worth visiting for a picture of our supreme supervisor, Mary Beth!
