Autumn has arrived in the Berkshires, and with its arrival comes a flurry of activity. The leaves are almost at their peak, the weather is unpredictable and Tripod continues to grow (dare we say "mature"?) as a company. We welcome two new additions to the Pod Family: Karry Bengtson and Justin Harrison. Karry comes to us from grad school at Syracuse where her advertising degree and virtual fish bowl talents will be excellent preparation for our marketing revolution. Justin joins us from Bowdoin he brings some backcountry skills to our merry band. Having spent a NOLS semester in Wyoming hauling an 80-pound pack on his back, he'll soon learn how to dig himself out from the deluge of e-mail and marketing research we throw his way!
On Friday evening everyone went to Dick Sabot's backyard for "drive-in" movies, with Dick's menagerie of cats and dogs wandering over, under, and around the movie-goers. It wasn't too cold, but boy was it dark! Too dark to tell if anyone was necking in the balcony, so no juicy stories to tell of blossoming liaisons between Tripodians.
On Tuesday, chaos reigned as the new phone system was installed. Jenny ran around with a crazed look on her face as she tried to connect phone calls to people without phones. Dwayne was literally climbing the walls and hanging from the rafters, running phone cable throughout the building. And Heather Snowman, already frazzled from doing all the bean-counting without Bruce, was command central with her floor plan in hand, making sure everyone attended one of the two-hour phone training sessions. You know you're in trouble when it takes two hours to explain the new phone system to computer geeks.
