Vanilla Ice is coming out with a new album (egads!). Tripod, plunked down in the middle of the Berkshire mountains, is covered in ice. Coincidence? We think not.
Anyone who decided to drive to work this week had to chisel through inches of ice to find his or her car. Those who decided to leave their cars to thaw (probably this Spring) risked life and limb slipping and sliding to work on the ice-covered sidewalks. We love Tripod THAT much.
It has rained and snowed off and on all week, and were confused. Should we ski? Should we swim? Some Tripodians decided it was time to ski. Heather Snowman (appropriately named) and Siouxsie headed up to Brodie, the local ski mountain Tuesday night for some serious snow-time. They said it was a bit icy. Imagine that. Gayle OBrien was having a great time snowboarding on Sunday until she fell. On ice. Senior Designer Matt Quann has chosen to do without the ice, and has left Tripod for Boulder, CO, where he can snowboard to his hearts content on ice-free slopes.
In the end though, we put up with the ice (and more ice) because we know that its all worth it when we walk outside on fresh powder, leave the first trail of prints, and gaze in bewildered awe at the beauty of new snow sticking to the evergreens. We especially know its worth it when the snow melts (well, after mud season) and gives way to the green summer, and an even more colorful fall. Well take the couple of bruises we get from falling on the winter ice in exchange for the rest of the Billsville perks.
