Tripod Chat URLs
This section tells you where the various chat helper scripts are and
how to use them. Link to your chat room from your homepage!
Q:
How do I put a link to my chat room on my homepage?
Simple! If your member name is "Fred," the URL to link to is:
http://chat.tripod.com/bin/search?Fred -- if by some
strange quirk of fate your member name is not "Fred," you should
substitute your member name for "Fred" in that URL.
That link will direct anybody to your open chat room. If your room is
closed, it will direct them to a page that will tell them that.
Q:
How can I let people know if my chat room is open?
Use the chat flag. What is the chat flag? It's an image that changes
based on the state of your room. Use this HTML: <IMG
SRC="http://chat.tripod.com/bin/flag?Fred"> unless, again,
your member name is not "Fred," in which case you should substitute
your own member name.
A nice way to set it up is to combine the search script and the flag,
like this: <A
HREF="http://chat.tripod.com/bin/search?Fred"><IMG
SRC="http://chat.tripod.com/bin/flag?Fred"></A>
Q:
How do I start my chat room, again?
Well, you can either use the "start your own chatroom" link on the Chat main page, or you can bookmark the link's
location: http://chat.tripod.com/service/start. The search script will not start a chat room for you.
