    Questions About Poderators

This section tells you all about Poderators: from who they are, what they do, to how to become one.

    Q: What is a Poderator?

A Poderator is an individual who builds and maintains a Pod. The Poderator is usually keenly interested in the Pod theme or topic, and is a creative, friendly individual who enjoys interacting with other people. Poderators write the Pod newsletters, choose the Best of Pod winners, help keep the Pod in good shape by ensuring that all pages in the Pod are on topic and related to the Pod, and Poderators schedule and run the Pod chats.

Poderators also help find other places on the Web which may be of interest to the Pod members and keep the Pod main page looking sharp by updating it on a regular basis. Any other Pod activity which may be unique to the individual community could also be arranged or managed by the Poderator (recipe exchanges etc).

It is important to realize that the Poderators hold no authority to interpret Tripod's Terms of Service. Any problems or issues arising in the violation or possible violation of Tripod's Terms of Service are handled by Tripod's Membership Department, and any questions about this policy can be directed to [email protected].

    Q: Who are the Poderators?

Our Poderators are Tripod members who volunteer their time, expertise and services to the care and feeding of the Pod communities. Our Pod communities are constantly growing and changing, and we are always accepting applications for volunteer Poderators.

As a Poderator, the primary task is to keep the community looking sharp, and help the members of the community communicate with each other. Poderators are not Tripod employees; they are the conduit for information between Tripod and the Pod members, and they help us find and recognize the best that our community has to offer.

    Q: How do I become a Poderator?

We recruit savvy Tripod members to volunteer in our online communities. We look for Tripod members who are 18+ years old, willing to spend a few hours each week in the Pod, have an interest in the theme or topic of one of the Pods, have a rudimentary knowledge of HTML, and have some creative and innovative ideas for their communities. Just fill out the online application, and, please be patient with us as we sort through them all!

Note: Poderators are hand-picked out of many many applications and are extensively trained before they are placed in Pods.

Q: Why do Poderators need to be 18+ years old?

We know it sounds totally unfair, but Tripod asks that all Poderators be 18 or older simpy because of legal reasons. If you're close to being 18, we will gladly hold onto your application until you turn 18, but we cannot accept you until then. If, in the future, we do find that we can use poderators who are under 18, we will let you know!
